It's impressive, but technically, that's not a photo of a single atom - it's a photo of the light emitted by the atom as its electrons shuttle between energy states under excitation by the laser.  ;)

If you actually want to resolve individual molecules, or even atoms, you need a GBFO electron microscope:

You could equally say that a photo of a star is not actually a photo of the star, but a photo of the light emitted by the atoms of the star as they reradiate light absorbed from deeper within the star.

Pretty much all photographs are of light emitted by atoms stimulated externally...
