Good grief - a petrol motor. I sort of assumed it would be electric.

Just because you can do something, doesn't always means you should.
A shitter and a giggler.

...and of course not even vaguely street legal in the UK.
Actually, it is rocket science.

He claims (hah!) that it's been registered and that the number is GVY 248.  If it was registered as a moped back when the rules were more relaxed, would it still be road legal? After MOT and with appropriate insurance, obviously.

Hmm, I didn't notice that.  Interesting question, but I suspect that if it hasn't been continuously kept on the road (ie VED disc, MOT or equivalent etc) the DfT aren't going to play.

You used to be able to  buy Cyclemasters and the like, or tyre drive motors, to convert your bike to a moped. Quite common once upon a time.

Edit: should be no less legal than a vintage car.

I suspect the trouble would be proving that it was the vehicle he mentioned, since it doesn't seem to have any plates on it.  If it's been off the road for a very long time, there may be no record that it was ever a legal vehicle, or only buried somewhere that a bureaucrat isn't willing to search.

£150/1110 members = 13.5p each.

I'll nip over and create a thread in 'Our Bike' ;)

Bummer! Only just spotted this. And look

Quote
Winning bid:   £454.00
Pick up only - see item description for details
Item location:   york, East Riding of Yorkshire, United Kingdom

It so happens we'll be passing right near there -- coincidentally in a tandem-sized-van -- this weekend. And £454 it would have be rude not to put in a bid, if only for the joy of adding a single speed tandem to the collection!
