HTTP 404 Not Found Error - Best notification

You are looking for something on the Internet, and the page has gone, for whatever reason


Some just use the default error message, but I lived this one from Gosport's Discovery Centre

Any other examples from sites with a good alternative the the 404 error message?

Here's one I did about ten years ago when my FLJS chum Samfast and I were amusing ourselves with crudely-'shopped photos of Buddhist monks.

Not a message as such, but a few years ago we were driving round the M25, past J18. There were roadworks, involving temporary diversions and closures of the road that intersects the M25 at that point. Or as The Boy said "A404, road not found".

I think I have prior art on that one, from when they were digging up the White Lion Road at some point (well, tbh, most points) in the late 90s.  Of course that was before HTTP error codes had seeped into popular culture, so nobody got the joke.
