What are you drinking right now?
« on: 30 December, 2009, 08:46:46 pm »
Here at chez Pingu, a not bad wee Gewurtztraminer, mmm...lychees. Not something we drink all the time, but it makes a change from sauv blanc.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

At this precise moment, nothing.

But I do have an interesting collection of beers downstairs, mostly dark and heavy with the odd Belgian one for good measure.  Some of these will be broached from 9.00   :smug:

Herb tea. Delivered to me a while ago by Mrs B. The remnants are now getting cold. I'd better finish them.

Done.

Sainsbury's 12yo Islay single malt.   Not something I would have bought myself but it was a gift and is surprisingly good.

I love Gewurztraminer. Well, no... actually I love saying Gewurztraminer. It rolls off the tongue so nicely. I also quite like saying Trockenbeerenauslese - more than I enjoy drinking the stuff.

To be fair, a decent Gewurztraminer can be very pleasant when paired with the right food.

Anyway, I am currently drinking a bottle of Hopdaemon Skrimshander, having earlier enjoyed a bottle of Weihenstephan Hefeweiss. Very pleasant.

Having spent most of the afternoon/early evening building kitchen cupboards then cooking the family meal, I feel I have earned these treats.

Amontillado followed by a couple of glasses of Lindeman's Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 and now a bottle of Ringwood Old Thumper.

I might finish off with a gentleman's measure of A Bunadh.

I haven't got a cold but I might sleep well.

Belgian beer. Sint Bernardus 6. I bought a case a while back, and still have about half of it to get through.

Plus a bottle of the 12 awaits a really special occasion.

If you have any Drambuie knocking about, might I recommend a Rusty Nail as another good way to use up the Bells.

I did think of that but the Stones was cheaper and it feels vaguely medicinal.
