The first responder was called Marcus and Sarah's assistant was Declan, just to complete the set.    :)

Which is better, breaking bone or ligaments? I'd have thought bone would be faster to heal.....

Ooof! Sorry to hear that bones were broke, PB. Sending well-wishes.

Which is better, breaking bone or ligaments? I'd have thought bone would be faster to heal.....

Having torn ankle ligaments in April, and having had to make an urgent detour for codeine earlier today, I'd be willing to bet on PB being healed before me.

Get well soon, Fella.

How does this affect Malham PB?

A lot depends on Tuesday.   If I need surgery then I think Malham is a no no for me.   Next issue will be when the cast comes off.   I'll know more on Tuesday.  I was going to pm you Bob for a contact number in order that we could discuss logistics.

Just completed a 'wounds' audit whilst in the bath.   Blood lost from wounds to both knees, right thigh and right elbow.  Road rash to both palms, right shoulder, right forearm and right upper arm.  Plus broken tibia, obviously.

In the process I managed to shred my 1000 mile yellow gloves.

I've not seen your X-rays (obv) but adult tibial fractures sometimes need ages in plaster.
Surgery might make Malham more likely as less heavy-duty plaster would be needed to keep the fracture stable. Any wound would have all but healed.

See what the doctors say and

Please to make sure your bone density is assessed, the diagnosis or elimination of osteoporosis to to make.

Tibial fractures are not usually associated with osteoporosis but if future breaks can be prevented, much inconvenience is worthwhile.

Flipping heck PB. That's an episode and a half.  I'm astonished it took an hour for the actual ambulance to arrive. Heal well and have a hug!

Sorry to read of this, PB. A hell of a fall! And a hell of a wait for an ambulance. Hope you recover as soon as humanly possible.

I have just caught up with this, having mostly been away from a computer for a couple of days.

That's really bad luck, PB. GWASAP.

I was told that my ankles would have been better broken than badly sprained - quicker and easier recovery. I hope that is the case with you, PB.

Sorry to read of your bad luck; best wishes for your recovery.

probably irrelevant nowadays but 10 years back I got xrayed and person said ooh, low bone density go and get it checked out
so after a while I turn up at the whatever clinic.
bod i get to see says all irrelevant as it depends on how high the xray machine was turned on an to come back when I actually have osteoporosis (ily history thereof).  I suspected some porkies therein and that lack of local DEXA machine had more to do with it but nowt I could do.
Recommendation - find out settings on xray machine in case they're relevant.

Get thee a DEXA scan even if you have to make a scene to get it.

Having had a bad ankle injury I concur with the 'better bones than ligaments' statement. Mine has never recovered from multiple snapped ligaments.

Something interesting I read into your narrative; this accident had nothing to do with your (lack of) eyesight. Anybody could have had the same accident since the pothole was hidden by the standing water.

Time for bed.

I'm going nil by mouth now as my appointment is at 10 tomorrow and I harbour optimistic hopes of speedy surgery if possible.  I may be overly optimistic but you never know.

The ankle has been surprisingly un-throbby and lacking in pain.  I am puzzled. Hey ho.
