I went along to the NVA Speed of Light event at Salford Quays this evening... quite a worthwhile trip as these scrubbed up well.

At the risk of hogging this thread, I got a great set of images today from the Manchester Art Gallery. Went to visit the Raqib Shaw exhibition which is well worth the trip. It's elegant, grotesque and very challenging to the viewer.

Anyway, here's a teaser. There are more on FlickR if you are interested. (Well worth a look for the comparison between George Stubbs "Cheetah and Stagg with Two Indians" and Shaw's homage to it)

Yes, I have been out this morning, to capture the lovely frosty dawn outside the tent.  But it was too cold.  At just -2 deg C!

Fortunately, Butterfly's Fuji was ok, but I missed the shot I wanted.

It is simpler than it looks.

Jaded, personally I like the treatment on the first one.

A couple of grabs today. Now't too exciting.

Took a camera to the Marathon yesterday and marveled at the determination of the six hour crowd.  They were the real winners:

Aye.  A tad of subtle infill ;)

They were filming something in Trinity Church Square.  Unfortunately, I didn't have time to hang around to take advantage of the great many photographic opportunities which presented themselves, as I was hurrying off to the bank, so I took three or four snaps and went on.

I did get some good shots in Borough Market, though, in the morning and after going to the bank.  I'll post some later.

Straight off my phone, with a slight crop of the top.

I couldn't figure out what this was for a few seconds, it reminded me of HR Giger's Necronomicon stuff.

Been trying to take a photo and upload it to flickr every day.  70 days and counting so far,  here is today's effort.

Interesting project.

You do like your macro, don't you?

I too have noticed the heavy macro influence, and that is a habit I will have to try and break.   but it has been forced upon me as I struggle to think up ideas while not really leaving the house much.

The project is to force me to carry my camera more, and get back into my photography, I have already taken more pictures in the last 70 days than the previous 2 years combined.  So it seems to be working, and hopefully my pictures are getting a bit better / interesting.

The struggle is creativity.  and remembering to be creative before it has become dark as I am a bit rubbish when it comes to using a flash.  Something else I will have to work on.

Don't think of it as a weakness!  It's a strength.  Thinking about seeing things in a new way is what photography is all about, and, if that involves macro, then go with that.

I'm a bit crap with flash, too. :-[
