Wiggy 300

Anyone else riding this on 3rd May?  Quite possibly a 300 without lights with 5am start.

Was hoping to be riding the Severn Across (same date) but due to lack of fitness from the weather and recent flu, have been forced to completely re-vamp my programme of events for this year with my first 400 as being the Irish Mail and then the Cambrian 600 at the end of June.

I did it last year and didn't need lights... thankfully. Mine had been switched on in my bag and as I was 'testing' it as we set off I realised it's batteries were flat. I recorded my fastest 300 that day and was back before 18:00. Not this year though, I'll be doing the 100 as my first audax of my comeback

My entry just needs posting, unlike MSeries I have used lights at the start of the ride before.
Will also be riding the Cambrian 600, who would want to miss the experience that is Hollies 24hr at two thirty in the morning?

Might even be later than that as accommodation is now booked at Montgomery from about 11pm - 6am.

IMO it would make a good first 300. Not completely flat, a couple of climbs over the NY Moors in the final 100km and some lumps in the first 50km. Very quiet roads though, good cafes and some good scenery in the National Park. Fairly fast route, I have done it twice now, approx 15hours and 13 hours. MSeries Recommends.

I signed up due to the aspirational challenge, and the local start, and then realised that I might be out of my depth!

Look after yourself, rest and eat wisely and you should be OK. It is not a difficult route, 300km seems  along way at first though but the ride has several sections broken up by the controls at Malton, Richmond and Stokesley. Final control at Helmsley and the job is just about done, easy ride home. Stokelsley to Helmsley is the hardest but prettiest stretch.

I wish I was doing it now !! I am doing the accompanying 100 this year.
