I've been listening a lot to the top US comedy podcasts. The film director Kevin Smith Smodcasts and Joe Rogan and various deathsquad podcasts.

It's amazingly surreal, e.g. the Naughty Squad is like Loose Ends, except they're interviewing porn stars, everything is sponsored by a sex toy called a fleshlight, and they all are evangelical about the benefits of marijuana.

Documentary on One - RTE Documentaries

The 29 April podcast - "A Convict Of The Road" - is essential listening for any cycling fan. Totally mental, very funny, astonishing story.

The real peloton had a recording of a Cavendish press thing I listened to earlier. He came over much better than he often does at the end of a race. They surpassed themselves with the sound quality. Oh, and a disappointing lack of Ukulele.

I have been enjoying The Infinite Monkey Cage of late. Brain Cox and Robin Ince plus guest discussing science plus humour.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

I've paid for a podcast for the first time (Velocast TDF) and I'm about to do so for the second time (Velocast Vuelta). That has to count for some kind of favourite!

Not mentioned up thread, I'm liking BBC's material world and have recently added Photography tips from the top floor to my listening.

I paid for the TdF one but won’t be for the Vuelta because I’m beginning to find them annoying, like Chris S.  (You know what I mean).  Too many quirky phrases -  ‘bumping our gums’ (talking a lot or even writing a lot in a blog), ‘hat to…’,  ‘brutal’ (esp in relation to climbs), ‘horny’ (when referencing bikes/frames), ‘on that bombshell’ (when signing off, usually with no bombshell) - which were OK to start with but which have become clichéd.  Knowledgeable and not afraid to be controversial, but it sometimes feels as if they’re taking a position for the sake of it.

Then there’s the American based Speed Metal cycling .  Still making my mind up about this.  If there were more cycling talk (especially Columbian-based) and less inanity it would be better.

The Spokesmen, I love to hate the worthiness of this one.  Mix of pro stuff and advocacy.  Cycling roundtable with 4 or 5 contributors skyping in, so variable audio-quality.

The Bike Show from Resonance FM presented by Randonneur Jack Thurston.  Broad range of topics (usually one per show) despite sometimes being London-centric, which is fair enough, of course.  Turns out he’s a great interviewer – I was squirming when he put Stephen Roche on the spot about doping. Off for a break now till October.

Velo Club Don Logan.  Two Scots blokes talking first about pro road racing and then, my cue to stop listening I’m afraid, mountain biking.  Just two unpretentious and self-deprecating blokes having a chat about cycling.

Come back Real Peloton.  I enjoyed the short daily ITV4 podcasts from the tour when Boardman was thrown into the Boulting/Rendell mix, but would love the return of the regular long broadcast.  I guess they’ve been busy doing stuff they get paid for.

Non cycling: The Bugle still gets me giggling/guffawing.

Oh yes, that Roche interview was brilliantly uncomfortable. Great work, Jack. I *heart* the Bike Show.
