Yeah, planning to be there for 7:30
See you at 7:30
Before NW Witham is put in to grid lock by the road closures at the roundabout

Hello peeps,

In theory what follows would warrant a separate thread but I'm keeping this low key as I don't want a massive response.

Some of you will know chief, a good mate of Oaky's, who has been around for years.  chief has a house with in the Aldham area (a bit north of Marks Tey) which has sufficient land (plus outside loo!) for us to have a bivvy / little tent session.  The plan is that we meet chief on the evening of Friday 8th October at The Chequers, Great Tey and after suitable refreshment and a bit to eat (I need to check The Chequers does food) chief escorts us to his liar.  Then, the following morning, after a breakfast cook off and perhaps Epiphany stylee early morning brew competition we will depart and go about our lives.

We are treating this inaugural event as a trial so want to restrict numbers to 10.  If you'd like to take part please PM me, 3 places have already gone.

Who's in?

Hello happy Saturday

Re the bivvy / small tent doo-dah on Friday 8th October.  chief is sorting food at The Chequers GT, more details to follow.  We are now up to 13 with room for a couple more so PM me if you haven't already.

Love un stuff  :-*

PS - Hopstock at the SH is fab, me and huggy were on the bar in the marquee yesterday evening and we're there again this evening so come along if you're free.

Any plans for this week? After realising how much fitness I've lost on Saturday's meager 30k to the SH somewhere not too far would be appreciated

Ok, 5-10 mile radius of Chelmsford - good pubs that we haven't been to recently (and are still functioning!), that spring to mind are:

Windmill, Chatham Green
Rose and Crown, Gt Waltham
Hare, Roxwell

or back to the Queen's Head in Boreham?

Loads more though ...

We haven't been to the Hurdlemakers for a while, which is close to Chelmsford, and East friendly?

(I'm doubtful for this week though 😥)

Hurdlemakers sounds like a good call - I've not had BBQ ribs for a while :)

Hurdlemakers isn't it?  The one in Woodham Mortimer, not the one in Rotherham

I just called the (Woodham Mortimer) Hurdlemakers and advised them of ~10 sweaty cyclists turning up between 8:30 an 9pm for inside drinks with maybe one or two arriving earlier for food.  They are looking forward to seeing us!

According to my records, March 2020 was the last time we were at Hurdlemakers though it felt like longer than that.  It might have just been Jos and I though!

Fine by me, but a western friendly option is possible, if anyone this way is out to play? Three Horseshoes, Duton Hill ... ?
