« on: 30 May, 2008, 10:48:33 pm »
... I marked my impending 30th birthday by undertaking a solo cycle camping trip from Stockholm Airport to Narvik.
After a few days on the road, I saw another cyclist in my rear view mirror. We got talking and rode and camped together for the next 8 days. I took a few photos, he fished in the evenings, I cooked the fish on my little petrol stove.
We both suffered sunburn and mosquito bites in those extreme northern climes (he went on to Nordkapp after we parted). Life was lovely; he bought me chocolate marshmallows on the Big Day.
He has just sent me an early birthday card after being out of touch for a few years...

That's lovely
I lost contact with someone I was at college with - after a five year abstinence we crossed paths in Camden Market, purely by chance.
She has remained one of my closest friends since that 1992 chance encounter.

If you're celebrating an anniversary, I wish you a good one. :)

Thanks! It's not quite yet, but should be a good one.
I have sent him an email...

That's a lovely tale, H. Quite romantic, indeed! Does he have any of the photos?

And happy impending birthday :)

Has he still got his own teeth?

Best ask for a picture before you commit yourself and remember, men do tend to let themselves go after the age of 40.

That fresh faced youth you shared the after sun with may now be a gap-toothed, baldy, porker with moobs bigger than ..... well, mine!

Hope this helps.

Thanks for greetings.
Someone asked me why I was going to be 50 this year, at the AUK dinner/ The reason is that I was born in 1958...
N is 5½ years older than I am. I presume he has his own teeth as they looked OK on the photo.
I have old photos but would have to dig them out of the drawer and borrow a scanner if I wished to share them.

I need to scrounge a scanner. Partner's scanner is ancient and probably won't interface with my computer.
Dad has scanner, which works OK but is 5 miles away. I don't wish to acquire too much more clutter...
