Fargo is one of my favourite films. I have my doubts about this though.....

New series tonight! Chris Rock as top bad guy, and
The cast also includes Jessie Buckley, Timothy Olyphant, Jack Huston and Ben Whishaw, the latter of whom is playing a Rabbi who appears to be connected to a memorable season two villain.

Jessie and Ben! <swoons>

Yebbut, what’s it got to do with the original Fargo? I guess being set in Minnesota will be enough.

I've just watched the two first series, while rowing, but I haven't watched the movie. I truly enjoyed it. I was very surprised how much in details they went into. Labels, colour, objects etc. There was many things I remember from last 70s early 80s. Like that windows (glass) wasn't pure clean things that you really couldn't see that you were looking through. Back then they often warped what was on the other sides.

Channel 4, 10.00pm Sundays, but also on the All 4 player as well.  I haven't looked to see if the first two series are also on the player.

They are plugging the presence of series 1-3 on All 4 in the trailers for the new series.

I realised that I had seen the first three series and had enjoyed them.
I watched the Series 4 episode 1 yesterday. I felt it was trying to be too clever by half but I will watch the 2nd one in the hope it improves.

I've given up after E1.  Too smart for its own good and with cliched, banal dialogue.  Feels like something you've seen a hundred times before but with better characterisation.

I'm hoping that Episode 1 can be treated as an intro. I enjoyed the three previous series.

Well, Episode 2 was an improvement and gives hope for Episode 3.

;D Glad you liked them!

S4 is a pretty big change of scene, isn't it?? We're 2 shows in, it's not entirely succesful, but a lot to keep me interested.

Quite an original take on the old gang-wars vibe, IMO, and a different angle on the 50s race issues. (Good on 'em for trying something different)

Anyone know if the thing about raising rival gang's son as your own really happened back in the day?

That highlights the problem for me - I really don't care.  It's not well enough scripted or characterised to make me want to buy into the story or issues therein.

BTW I loved the first 2 series, the third not so much.

I've hung on in and it has got better but I find myself doing a Su Doku at the same time.
It is much to 'jokey' and staged although some individual characters are good.

Fargo is getting better.
Poor Timothy Oliphant. What a surprise!
Where is the irishman and who was looking out of the coffin in the last episode?

I think it was much less than the sum of its parts. A brave deviation from the tried-n-tested formula, but I hope the next one is better!

I grew to like it but mainly because the cinematography was very good and a couple of sub plots were a surprise: I didn't expect Timothy Oliphant to go as he did nor those in the twister.
I'll watch the next one. :)
