Rear chain tightness? She's not a fixie, you know!

My question.
Three weeks post surgery. Most things going well, except if I don't take care about how I move, my ulna dislocates (I can tell this by feel, this is happening under the cast).
Also, I'm getting bruising at my elbow. There was a lot to begin with, that started to go, but this looks persistent. It's still blue/black and is tender. The surgery was up close to my wrist, so I'm kind of surprised I'm getting bruising down at my elbow  still.

MrsC thinks I should call the hospital and ask about it. What does the panel think?

I've had some major Achilles issues in the last few years to the extent that I'm really not running much at all this year, only target being a New year's eve 10k I always run. No ultra's, no HMs, all very easy.

My experience
1) find a sports injury/sports rehab specialist, they will focus on keeping you moving AND the underlying issue if they are any good. Specifically get them to look at the rear chain, which is chronically tight/shortened in cyclists and runners.  I could probably get a contact for you if you want from therapists I trust, let me know where you are.
2) Do the exercises
3) have you got a sit/stand desk?  If not worth getting one, rear chain tightness, hip flexor degradation all influenced by prolonged sitting
4) start doing yoga
5) lots of calf raises

TBH, I was hoping this could be treated by allowing it to recover and just not doing whatever one-off thing it was that pissed it off.

Prolonged standing (and indeed anything remotely like running) is contraindicated due to other issues.

Mr C if you're asking... I'd call the hospital, you've had complex issues and you're concerned. If there are problems, you want to know and sort them sooner rather than later, especially still dislocating etc.

I've never regretted getting hand surgery stuff checked out. Trust your instincts and that of those who know you.  Hands are precious.

He has the dry MD. He says the damage in one eye covers about 3x the area of the other. Is to go back next week for another imaging session so they can assess the initial rate of degradation.

So he's been for another scan and apparently one eye has already progressed to wet MD, so he gets to have an injection in that one. Lovely.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Good luck.  Last time I had a urinary infection the quack gave me stuff that turned my piddle blue for a week. Blue-blooded as a compliment I could accept, but folk queueing up to watch that marvel was a bit much.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

Someone posted a link to a really good article about the causes of blood vessels blocking/clogging. Can I find it? can I heck.

A colleague who is going in for angioplasty would like a read.

I've just tried walking further than the kitchen for the first time since last Sunday.  Did some calf stretches first.

400m total, discomfort (possibly slightly less for the second hundred metres) on both sides.  Not actual pain.  Stairs were okay after I got back.

If it's just that I could tolerate it as merely annoying.

I'm probably going to have to do that much walking again tomorrow, as we're doing Lawyers.

Will see how it goes.

I've an appointment at the dentist next Thursday at 9am.
And have just pulled out a crown (lower R5).
Will it wait?

(I feel sick)

If it doesn't hurt and is a post crown, yes.
If it doesn't hurt and is a jacket crown on a root-filled tooth, yes.
If it hurts and the tooth is not root filled, possibly not but you might be OK.

Keep broken tooth & surrounds clean.

Do not replace crown to fill the gap; you will swallow it.
DAMHIKT!

Hope you're fixed soon!

Had some fun'n'games this morning.

Went to bed at midnight feeling fine, then awoke abruptly at about 3am with a sudden need to vomit. Along with the vomiting and somewhat painful coughing came some blood in the vomit and some shortness of breath, which (ironically) meant I couldn't suck in the air through my inhaler to try to fix.

Mostly panicked by the blood in the vomit and the shortness of breath I rang 111 for advice, expecting to be told to see my GP in the morning or, at worst, take myself up to the walk-in clinic. I wasn't expecting to be told that an ambulance was on its way - I was still sitting in my pyjamas!

I pulled some clothes on and locked Blu in the kitchen (so he didn't lick the paramedics to DETH), and when they arrived they put me on a nebuliser to sort my breathing. One thing fixed. They also did an ECG in my living room, which has left me with some lovely shaved patches on my chest  but as they couldn't pinpoint the cause of the blood in the vomit, they decided to play safe and take me in for a doctor to check me over.

So, off to A&E - for a long wait, another ECG, some blood tests and a chest X-Ray. After all that, the doc decided that there was nothing worrysome on any of the tests and said I could go home. Then it was just the fun of finding the appropriate bus route and bay at the hospital, getting some change, and getting back across town. Home by 9am and sleeeeeep.

First of three dentist appointments in three weeks over and done with. I'm now minus the retained root of a wisdom tooth that seemed to break before it even appeared, and plus an ache in the right hand side of my face.

Just the two root canal treatments on a tooth on the other side of my mouth to go now  :-\
