Our IT support team are fantastic!!

my new laptop has been fettled from 5,000 miles away while i have a cup of tea and a biscuit watching them drive it remotely.  I've just surprised the head of IT by sending him a 'thankyou' mail rather than complaining about stuff :)

My good news, which I can say publically as of last week, is that my wife is pregnant! Due on December 8th... hence us bringing forward our move to Canada (we can't really leave any later than the beginning of September). So I guess with the house we've found, and the fantastic new job too, life is all good news for me right now. I am very lucky.

My daughter's boyfriend, who's been unemployed for two years, has been accepted onto a PGCE primary teaching course (in the face of huge competition) today. He's a great lad and we're delighted for the two of them.

Well done him, Gordy! Runs in families, this teaching mallarkey...

Our son-in-law has today been promoted to Head of History at his school.

A better than average day today...
Got told my promotion is on its way (no connection with the previous post!).
Collected n+1 from the LBS.
Thought I had stripped the made-of-cheese thread on the crank changing the pedals on said n+1. Came back after doing some other bits for one last go and it went on. I've ridden up and down the street and the pedal is still on. I'm still a bit nervous about it, but I think I got away with it. I may still order a spare crank arm as insurance.

My work laptop's adapter decided to pack in on Tuesday*. I'm a homeworker, so I can do nowt but wait until a replacement arrives in the post hopefully (not) tomorrow. Shame that, eh?  ;)

Shame the Blackberry keeps me in touch, but you can't have it all.

Is that an oxymoron or a paradox? ;)

I only caught half the thread due to a crap connection, anything b0rked, or just bruised?

And if anyone fancies a drunken Friday night larf at my expense: last Tuesday I fell down the stairs at my workshop in Barca. [edit: I was completely sober!]
In front of of all the delegates.  :-[
I felt like a complete tit and got a nicely ballooned and purple ankle.

On the plus side it seems to be getting more used to me standing on the bike now
