OMG that cat/kitten is gorgeous! Is this yours Jaded?  :D
More details please!

She is Abyssinian, 5.5 years old, a breeding dam that had a lot of problems with litters, so she has become a pet. Along with an orange Aby kitten, who she is getting used to. Her colouring is amazing - it really is a salmon pink undercoat and shirt front.

It's great to have katters and kitters again!

That's fantastic news  :D
Congratulations!

Pearl says, "Look, I'm 17, most of me aches, and I'm pissed off.  Just give me my bloody dinner!"

Pearl.  Born in Bournville May 1996.  Moved to West Wales 2006.
A happy street wise cat is now boss of the county.

Fabulous photo.  Makes me think of Horse, from Footrot Flats.   ;D

That's a fantastic pic Woofers. Makes you wonder… how many hairs does a cat have?
Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

This may have been done before, and probably should be on Single Issue Blogs

I'm surprised Roger hasn't found this one.  ;)

Meet - oh, she hasn't got a name yet.

She seemed very happy that we had provided a bed for her to sleep in

(click to show/hide)

We won't name her until we've had her long enough to see what fits with her personality.
We're putting suggestions up on the chalk board in the kitchen.  So far we seem to be going for traditional English girls' names.

#1 Son:  "We're not having any of your silly cycling names like Campag or Sprocket"

Me:  "Fair enough, how about Beryl?"  :demon:

#1 Son:  "Yeah, that's good"
 ;D

So far we've got:

Susan
Suzie
The Cat
Beryl
Porridge
Sam

Porridge?  ???  Actually, I think I might like that.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Actually, she's from not very far from Kim/barakta towers.  Quite possibly a distant relative of Zev's

That is one seriously cute kitty!

Re: Beryl, go for it, I reckon her thighs might develop adequately in time...  then tell the family who Beryl is, in about a year's time.

Actually our animals rarely get addressed by their names.  Tirion is frequently referred to as stripey ('cos she is) grumpy ('cos she is) or stumpy ('cos she walks all stumpy, like, due to a spine problem).

Baggins is either "big cat", "lumpy" ('cos he is, and it sort of goes with "stumpy") or "bloodyhellcatyourpawsareheavy" or sometimes, whilst I'm in bed "getoffmybollocksyoubastard".  This said, I do love him dearly, and must get off my arse and post pics of the great lump here.

Surya is frequently referred to as "dog" (way too obvious to explain), stinky (ditto) or "getoutofthebloodywayyoustupidanimal" due to her tendency to be very friendly, to the extent that wherever you are trying to go, there is a border collie right in front of you.  She is rightly terrified of the cats...

That reminds me of my aunt who guide walked for the blind. Puppies have to learn seven commands, except hers learned eight, the eighth being " 'op it " which my uncle taught them.

Basil, Beryl is very cute.

Which she has luckily grown out of. :)

Her colouring isn't massively distinct from Zev, but Zev has relatively small patches on her bib and underside, and her paws are entirely black.
Actually, it is rocket science.

The various Zev-shaped cats we see around the area have different amounts of white, but a distinctive stockiness.

Our kitting's sister was much more stockier but slightly longer haired.  We didn't choose her due to long hair and asthma probs.

I take it the lack of leg isn't stopping her getting around then?

She's learnin' to cope well. Sometimes, round the house, you can hear the thud, thud, thud, as if she's got a wooden crutch under her arm. And we've witnessed her scampering along the pavement at high speed, though she has to adjust her direction, because she veers off to one side.

^ that's all good to hear!

Here's a picture of our two looking like the saddest, grumpiest cats ever!  (Well Mr Bear's full name is Mr Bear Grumpikins!).  They are not really sad (I hope!).  They seem to be settling into their new home rather well and Bear, in particular, has become a lot more sociable and friendly since the move (we suspect that any residual scent of our previous male cat in the last place may have unsettled him slightly or something).

We've moved to a much higher density cat area - whilst ours don't go out onto the road, they seem pretty happy to run around the garden - but there are a number of cats who appear on top of fences and gates to annoy them.  We've only had 1 cat actually jump down into the garden, it didn't cause much stress really - unlike the squirrel that went to try and collect fallen fruit on the ground - that did cause a bit of fun and games.

Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!
