He does have a placemat, but he sees it as a thing to scatter biscuits across, and once they're on the mat, he can't possibly eat them.

I got him the igloo bed you see in the background, and that was as close as he ever got to it. So I took it back and changed it for a hooded one and he ignored that too.

At last a bed he likes!

Baby human paws. It's all about the opposable thumb action (sorry, barakta).

On the subject of cat beds, there's a hefty location, location, location factor. Floor level is cold and rubbish. A good view of the room is essential. Heat sources are always a plus. Randomly inconveniencing humans is a bonus too. So where you think is a good place for the cat bed and where the cat is interested in sleeping don't always line up...

I've yet to meet a cat that didn't like those radiator-mounted snuggle cat beds, though size and number of cats trying to occupy them simultaneously can be an issue. Cat bed on the far side of the kitchen always went down well with my parents' cats: They'd have a nice warm vantage point to lazily observe what was going on, and as a result tended to get under feet less when cooking was in progress (they soon learned exactly when to leap down and start nagging, though).

He was showing me his belly the first day we met at the shelter. It's either his preferred sleeping position or he just really likes me.

Uhoh. Talisker used to regularly end up with a bandage wrapped around his leg, when he had a blood test. I was always impressed with how easily it came away from his fur, it's a material actually designed for cats and dogs (and presumably other fluffy animals).

Mmm yes it's weird stuff, sticks to itself but it's not sticky. She wasn't very impressed about us cutting it off just now, poor wee toot.
Back to the vet on Thursday for another blood glucose (being as she's had no insulin since last Tuesday). At least that's what the appointment is for at the moment, bit of a fluid situation $:-\$

Not my cat, she is the work cat. She was born there and was untouched by any human for the first 2 years of her life. She is fed and watered but she hunts for a living. She kills a lot of rats and mice. She will now let only 4 people get near her and touch her. She does now come and greet the people she likes in the mornings. Some days she will find somewhere to lay and watch us working. When she was 2 y/o she cut her leg and as she wouldn't let anyone to touch her. She was caught with the aid of a fishing landing net and taken to the vets. She had her leg stitched and was spade at the same time. It then took her a couple of years to decide some people aren't all bad.
