I love it when they go all crazy eyes.

Maine Coon? He looks very like our Wes who is a similar size (but, alas, now too old to be the 'strange wild animal' in the field.

A new (probationary) resident at Granny Annie's was somewhat taken with her first glimpse of the ultra-widescreen kitteh TV.  Permanent residency to be contingent on how formal introductions with the resident hounds progress; first contact has been made, apparently with some very wide eyes and a some (kitten) growling involved.  She's a little battered - the vets think she may have had an argument with a car - but a very amiable wee thing.

Judging from some of the behaviours exhibited by the Mollycat, yes, though there is a suspicion that there may be meeces behind it.

Barry the Adolescent Cat, being all black, is hard to photograph with my meager photographic skills and equipment (an iPhone) but last night I triumphed ...!

His left eye is often a bit gunky as the cat flu he had when he was a kitten has left him with a dodgy tear duct.  The vet tried flushing it out when he was debollocked but to no avail.

He and Isabella are doing very well.   We let them out a bit now and they enjoy the garden.  But they seem genuinely bemused by birds, you can see it in their faces ... "How the hell can you fly when we can't?  That can't be fair can it?"

They got spayed today.

They're supposed to be resting. So far they've done nothing of the sort, and Pumpkin managed to break my bedside lamp almost as soon as they got home. Presumably due to the sudden widening of their heads.... I blame the pain meds. My previous cats didn't get anything to my knowledge and just laid quietly for 2 days.

They don't seem to like the look of each other with the cones on. Can't believe they're supposed to wear them for a fortnight!

Cone of shame stops the whiskers doing their thing.  Some cats really don't handle that well (see also: singed whiskers).

Drinking water didn't seem to go so well judging by the collateral damage. And I just had to shove Pumpkin's head back in cos her ears were poking out the back of the collar!

Realistically speaking 1 week should be enough- cats skin heals very quickly and when I actually use skin stitches in them (which I generally avoid) they are removed in 7 days.
Cats who chew their wound and remove stitches generally do so within the first 3-4 days of the op.
But obviously you have to listen to what your vet has told you as you may otherwise get the blame if they do bad things to themselves  :-\

According to the letter they have dissolving stitches. Looks like they've been glued up because there's nothing to see. I doubt the collars will last longer than a week anyway judging by the state of the ties already!

My vet never supplied, or suggested anything for either Kai or Zev when they were "done".  Kai was done as an adult male cat, and Zev as a 6 month old female kitten.  As I recall, I kept Kai in for a day or two, as you would with a human that had been under a general anaesthetic (OK, not kept in, observed, but you know what I mean!).  Zev was kept in the spare room for most of that time, as she had been for the first 6 months, when she wasn't wandering around the house with Kai.

Both were fairly active, as I recall, although I'd imagine keeping them indoors would be a good thing.

I'd imagine that both eating and drinking could be a bit more difficult with the 'cone of shame' on, unless you've got something like a spaniel bowl.
Actually, it is rocket science.

Pippin didn't have a CoS and she was fine. Our present pair haven't shown any sign of wanting to lick their wounds. They do seem to have itchy necks though, they are loving neck scratches from us at the moment!

Cone of shame stops the whiskers doing their thing.  Some cats really don't handle that well (see also: singed whiskers).

When Bad Cat knackered her back paw and had to be sewn back up she was dressed up in a shame cone. It didn't last the evening owing the trail of destruction she left behind, the fact that one of her attempts to remove it involved falling down the stairs backwards, and the second found her caught between chair back and table edge.

She is currently eating my swimming trunks. Nice.
