Ergon GA2 grips

I’m considering buying these:

They have removable end plugs, and I’d like to add bar ends to them. (I don’t like the Ergons that come with built-in ends - I want round grips with ends). Does anyone know if, having removed the end plugs, I can then slide them a little further inboard to add bar ends?

You can on the GP1 grips.

The GP1 has the clamp on the outside though, so might not apply to the GA2. It’s just difficult to see from pics if the ends curve around the ends of the bars to meet the end plugs, IYSWIM, and hence would need to be cut or widened to allow them to move further inboard.

I bought the posh cork ones to go on my Thorn,  then found that even though they were sold as Rohloff compatible they were too long on the shifter side. Had to do some knife work....

Thanks andrewc. I knew the end plugs were removeable, but I wasn’t sure if the grip could then be slid inboard without distorting the grip or needing to cut it - the 5th pic down in your linked MTB mag article shows that it can. Cheers.

I’m now dithering if this is the way to go. I’m a bit tempted in the other direction now, sorry!

I think the reason why I don’t like my current grips is that the flat “wing” is too small to do anything useful other than get in the way a bit, depending on how they are set. Rather than ditch the support entirely, I am thinking that a full size palm rest might actually work better.

They look like the grips I have, very comfy. It is not shown on those pics but the other side is the more contoured shape which I prefer.
