An interesting and very old tandem

Ever seen one of these ?

The seller reckons this might be 60 years old - I think its more likely over 80 years old - well, the engine part, that is.

I've never seen one before and I'll probably never see one again.

Anyone heard of this engine ?.  Would you be able to get parts for it ?

I bet it has a high grin factor, I'd love something like this (but my Missus would kill me); I reckon it'd cost a fair bit to get straight.

That's fantastic

It'd be a big project, for sure, but such fun when you'd done it :)

Cycle motors were still about when I was a kid, though I never saw one on a tandem. Mmost were on the front wheel with a lever to lift them off the tyre for stopping...

...then quite by accident I discover this, the National Autocycle and Cyclemotor Club

Being a marathon frame suggests it's better quality than standard gaspipe. The marathon design is more difficult and expensive to build than double-diamond.

It went for £976  :o :o :o

And no, I didn't buy it.

I've an Orbit Libra, with which I'm very happy.

Crikey, I have just realised that the ebay bargain I got for £25 is one of these (but mine is a basket case, frame, forks, front hub, EBB and other random bits only)
