Di Luca fails EPO test...

Quote
Vini Fantini directeur sportif Luca Scinto confirmed the news of Di Luca's positive for EPO to Cyclingnews.

"It's true," Scinto said in a quiet, sad voice. "He's mad, he's a cretino, he needs treatment. There's nothing else to say. We gave him a second chance and the sponsors put their faith in him and this is how he pays us back. It's crazy that a rider thinks they can get away with it like that."

Doesn't sound like he'll be getting another chance.

What's the betting on Nibali being found to still be doping?

Two of the least surprising drugs busts you'll hear of this year. It's good to know these idiots are being caught, but it would perhaps be even more reassuring if they caught some of the big guns who weren't already under suspicion (I mean under suspicion by people other than LWaB ;) ).

Very high I'd suggest.

There will be some more bad news from the Giro tests.  People have been caught out by changes in testing.

Also, seems there's an new methodology for EPO testing (these last positives have come from a lab in Koln, not the usual Lausanne, or wherever). Good to hear the testers are staying ahead of the game.
Cyclingnews article about Santambrigio says "According to the UCI the EPO test was done at the Rome anti-doping laboratory."  Or are we talking about different things?

It is alleged that another pro-continental team saw Vini-fantini riders and staff talking their way out of a drugs test after a race in Japan  due to time pressure on catching a flight - only for them to be seen later enjoying a leisurely meal out.

Pretty believable allegations too. Direct quote from the DS of an Australian team.

Seems to have been a bit of an open secret among the peloton. Kind of makes you wonder why no one has spoken out sooner. I mean, there's no more omerta, right?

Because to speak without facts can risk other issues. Better to nudge nudge the 'random' testing in certain areas of suspicion.

But the UCI tends to nudge testing in the opposite direction (refer Ashenden).

There will be some more bad news from the Giro tests.

Sylvain Georges. Not EPO this time, but heptaminol.

Bloody idiot.

Also very disappointed in Vincent Lavenu after Houanard last year. He professes to be anti-doping but seems to have no control over his riders.
