I'd travel back to a high school ball where Marty McFly played a Chuck Berry song for the first time, but sabotage the phone lines so that Chuck heard "Devil Woman" by Cliff Richard rather than "Johnny B Good".  Thereby creating both a time paradox and also destroying rock/pop music forever.

Mwahaha.

Jimi Hendrix Experience
Johnny Cash
Both because I never saw them- in Jimi's case he was before my time
Nirvana, Reading '92. I was there, I've got the DVD…but I'd want to see it again for real.

I may regret not taking a ticket for Queen in 1986 - "I'll see them next time", I said - and Freddie was dead five years later.

I didn't miss Pink Floyd, twice, and I'd happily go back and watch both tours - but fortunately they're on video, so I can.

There are few others I didn't see that I'd want to.  Maybe Rammstein...

Do. Seen them six times, and they've been fantastic every time. Hopefully I'll make it seven times at Donington in June.

I'd be fascinated to see Ludwig van B conducting the orchestra playing his latest work, his back to the players as was usual then, and increasingly out of sync with them, because he couldn't hear. General uproar in the audience.  What would it have sounded like?

I'm sure he would have done if the technology had been around.  You've only got to watch "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" to see that.

Martin Simpson, at the acoustic club I used to run, late August 1983.  The place was packed and we opened all of the windows so that people out in the street below could hear. Not only did he play a blinder of a set but at the end he invited all of the other musicians in the room to join him for an elongated jam on "Grinning in your face".  And at the end of the evening, a girl that I'd fancied for ages accepted my invitation to come back to my flat and listen to some more music.  I was still on cloud 9 the following day.

Was she still on the cloud?  Where was that club, redlight?  I might have called in.

Sorry, might have misread the question. The club was originally in a bar called The Wheatsheaf, in Rathbone Place, W1.  Then we moved briefly to The Shakepeare's Head in Carnaby Street before taking up a lengthy residency at the Sols Arms, by Warren Street tube.  This was 1983-86.

Any gig Graham Cooper played.
It is simpler than it looks.

After Basil's dreadful insult  ;D, I've thought some more.

I would love to go back and be able to go and see Tubby Hayes (and Ronnie Scott) playing.
Won't somebody think of the hamsters!

Jaded, do you mean the Graham Cooper that used to play with Harvey Andrews?

DJ Random has just reminded me that it would have been quite fun to see a just-starting-out AC/DC at the Red Cow in Hammersmith.

Yes. That Graham. Did you know of him?

Yes, I bumped into him a few times when we were going round the clubs.  He was an excellent finger-style guitarist and a nice chap.

Jaded, I had no idea he'd died.  The last time I met him must have been at least twenty years ago, I imagine when we'd both stopped doing the rounds and he was selling insurance, I think, which seemed like a colossal waste of his talents.

Many commiserations

Detroit Grande Ballroom, 1968:

Quote
Brothers and Sisters
I wanna see a sea of hands out there.
Let me see a sea of hands.
I want everybody to kick up some noise.
I wanna hear some revolution out there, brothers
I wanna hear a little revolution.
Brothers and sisters, the time has come
For each and every one of you to decide
Whether you are gonna be the problem,
Or whether you are gonna be the solution.
You must choose, brothers, you must choose.
It takes 5 seconds, 5 seconds of decision.
Five seconds to realize that it's time to move.
It's time to get down with it.
Brothers, it's time to testify and I want to know,
Are you ready to testify?
Are you ready?
I GIVE YOU A TESTIMONIAL, THE MC5!

Oh and I never saw The Smiths either.

Oakhambike's recent post reminds me that I should also like to be heading for the Portland Arms on 1 November 1978 as The Soft Boys' gig there - on the evidence of their "Live At The Portland Arms" LP - sounds to have been an absolute hoot.
