2011 Goals
« on: 04 January, 2011, 10:02:49 am »
2011 goals (not just cycling specific) are:-

Weight down to under 12st (76.2kg) and keep it there. Started this year at about 82kg. (Oct 2006 I once saw 94kg on the scales.)
Cycling 8000km. 3000km+ to come from Audaxing (SR + PBP + a few others). Cycle commute 80% of days. 100 laps of Richmond Park. Sub-hour 3 laps of RP.
Cycling II More time on the stationary bike in the work gym doing intervals. See if I can work my way up to Cat 4 level for the various power intervals...
Running Sod running. Maybe next year. Still playing 5-a-side once a week...
Swimming Leisure swimming only (must take Miss GB sometime soon, she hasn't been since she was 6 months).
Core Strength Will restart the 100 press-up challenge with the test on Saturday (so that I can do the press-ups Mon/Wed/Fri.

To complete two thirds of my commutes to work by bicycle.

This equates to 94 commutes.

Weight down to 10st 7lbs.

To ride more than 4000 miles again.  About a quarter of these will be commuting miles, if I achieve the first goal.

2011 goals (not just cycling specific) are:-

Weight down to x (Dec 2002 I once saw 106kg on the scales.)
Cycling 15000km.
Cycling II Actually use the rollers
Running Sod running. Maybe if I get iced in for more than a week...
Swimming Outdoor swimming only

If you write 'em down does it make you more likely to stick to them?

Working on that hypothesis...

My personal health and fitness type1 goals for this year are:

Weight

Less than 12 stone.

This will be achieved by sticking to Weight Watchers and drinking a lot less.

Exercise

Bike: more than 2000 miles

This will be achieved by getting some 'up-the-hill' rides into work on top of the usual riding

Swimming: some

This will be achieved by going swimming when I cannot ride and it’s not a Wednesday2, if, for instance, I need the car but it’s too wet for a lunchtime ride.  Will probably need to hide the swimming stuff at work.

Notes:

1) I have some other goals which I'm not going to share with you ;)
2) Wednesday is morris practice.  I need to be in a reasonable state for that!  It's also when I take the car to go to Tesco (Wednesdays are busy)

Weight. Sub 70kg on the PBP start line.

Cycling. 16,090km. Brevet 25,000. Retain Cambridge CC Audax trophy with another 50+ pointer. Fixed SR. 100% of commutes by bike.  8000km on fixed. PBP.

Rowing. 500km on rowing machine.

Swimming. Swim 1500m in 35 minutes.  Swim 50km in the year.

Running. 6'40 for the fun run and a sub 6 minute mile.

Fitness. LT at least 250W. Vo2max at least 60.

Core strength: Visible abdominal musculature.

If that doesn't kill me, nothing will.

Do you do triathlons Simon? It seems you have all the sports.

My goals

  • Get down to 70kg (in Apr 09 before I started cycling again I was 100kg!)
  • Try and ride at least 200km every week (on a run of 10 successive weeks at the moment), hence an RRTY or two.
  • Complete the Brian Chapman for the first time, and the Three Coasts (DNF this year).

I thought about adding a Triathlon as a goal.  But, no.

I have a bunch this year

Audax - do my first SR
Cycling - 13500km for the year
Running - 500km for the year and make <45m 10ks the norm rather than an effort
BMI - average 19
Diet - average 1 piece of fruit a day
Alcohol - average 4 drinks per week
Sleep = average > 6hr per night
Water - average > 2l per day
Caffienated drinks - average < 5 per day

Tghis year, I am using Daytum for BMI, fruit, alcohol, sleep, water and caffeine, rootein for apple reminders, health month to see what gamification is about, and Runkeeper for running and cycling as well as Bikejournal.

Running: Get running regularly once a week again.  I enjoy running, but not having done it for a few years means I can't just get out and do it when I want to anymore.  Going well
Cycling: Tempted by the metric century a month challenge.  I'd like to do a 600 audax, but don't think I can commit the time.  Fail on either
Core Strength: Try and hit that 100 push ups again.  Try again.  etc.  Still trying...
Weight: Keep the tummy to less than one handful.  Ok so far
Breeding: Another little _e due this year.  This is my excuse for keeping the other targets modest. Already sta...:P

Cycling: Get back on the morning rides once spring arrives.
Kendo: Win the National Team Championship
Crossfit: Not sure yet. 20+ kipping pull-ups, 30 double unders and be able to do 1 muscle-up.
Rowing: 500m in <1:40
Olympic Lifting: Snatch bodyweight (Ok, 85-90%, might be a more realistic goal, but this is an easier number:)

Cycling: Improve Power to Weight ratio. A lot.
