May well be having a stroll around Barnes on Sunday 23rd, if anyone wishes to attend. Same plan as before; meet at the bike sheds and spend the day seeing what might be about. Let me know.

No worries. I will be at the bike sheds mid-to-late morning, unless it is persisting down. I have a bundle of "group rate" passes.

Steph also says: "Bring your own fags." And snogging will be permitted, this time, as certain parties were disappointed last time.
Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

Well, I went with two friends, and received a call saying "Brrrrrrr cold!"

More like "Grrrrrrr". Those magic words, "Bus Replacement Service" from C Jn. No map...sp I found my way to Barnes by using the Thames as a sort of navigation aid. Not a navigation, coz that would be a canal. And it was fabby. Sunny, with a late summer mix of birds that my Sapphic friends seemed to delight in, from a singing Cetti's warbler, to a glimpse of a bittern, anna rat. Apart from the bittern, just basic, gorgeous, ordinary waterfowl, and what could be better? The Frankie Howerd ducks were in full "Ah-ooh!" mode, the dabchicks were dabbing, the coots "COOT!" ing....pity about having to ride past Wandsworth.
