Desk advice - timber for DIY desktop

This chap on Twitter has molished a rather lovely standing desk

Any thoughts on where I could source a nice bit of timber for a custom desk top?
I live in London or could have it delivered.
I have an orbital polisher and everything for finishing it!

Recommendations for the motorised frame also - there are several on Amazon.
Finally the keyboard drawer- any recommendations?

Try looking in charity or second hand shops for furniture. There are plenty of old tables where the style is not something anyone wants these days (and so cheap) but the timber of the actual table top is lovely and would just need cutting to size and stripping, sanding and refinishing.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Good advice pcolbeck. There is indeed a charity furniture shop in the Blue in Bermondsey.

There's a yard in Wandsworth that specialises in massive sawn timber (i.e. the sort of thing you'd use for this type of project.) Not cheap though.
Hardwood kitchen worktops would be another alternative.

A yard that rebuilds old boats.
I got a lovely piece of oak once that was an off cut for the boatbuilder.
Never knowingly under caffeinated
