Am I the only one disturbed by the shape of that fork?
Is it a
Bates Diadrant? There were lots of experiments going on with specific aspects of frame design in those days (the
Curly Hetchins and the original
Flying Gate for example). You can draw your own conclusions over how important it was that the various designs were each claimed to give a real advantage, versus that manufacturers' names on frames were outlawed as advertising at the time, so an instantly recognised shape was commercially useful.
A friend once told me that his Flying Gate went into corners like a dream. Sadly, however, it wouldn't come out again
