Excel reading minutes as hours
« on: 13 January, 2020, 04:19:01 pm »
I used a race timing app for my club reliability ride: Race Timer.  It all went well but the finish time output is shifted so that minutes are being displayed as hours.

To illustrate, if someone took 4 hours 15 min 10 sec, instead of 04:15:10, it is showing it as 255:10:00.  The start time output is displaying as it should with hh:mm:ss, so someone starting after 5 minutes 25 seconds is 00:05:25

My plan is to subtract start from finish to get riding time, but I need them in the same format to do that.  Has anyone encoutered this and found a fix?  Googling didn't throw up anything, just lots of stuff telling me how to do basic time formats.

Add an extra column and divide the time by 60? You might need to manually set the format to duration.

Also, beware of Excel auto-recognising some of your values as durations and some as times of day. Doing maths on these can cause very odd results.

Divide by 60 - thanks for that, genius!
