Just the tikit?
« on: 03 May, 2024, 06:09:12 pm »
I am eying up a second hand bike Friday tikit (which I would likely convert to fixed).
The idea is it works as an folder, but mostly for the quick fold and roll option, if I need to roll in to a shop or up the elevator to my office (new work doesn't have secure cycle storage).
Any thoughts or advice?

Make sure any BikeFriday tikit you consider has all three of the "dangerous to ride until repaired" recalls completed:  1) The Hyperfold cable was changed from two thin cables to one thick cable.  2) The "Aardvark" was improved to a loop handle to keep the seatpillar from cracking and breaking.  The recall added a sheet metal brace that blocks the earlier cantilever-style handle.  3) The 'handlepost snaps off' recall.  BikeFriday sent out supposedly upgraded handleposts.  They have a red dot on the interior of the hinge.

Well, like BikeFriday said, "Only a couple of riders got hurt."

I contacted BF who very quickly got back to me to say about the red dot on the stem - but nothing about what to do if it's absent
