I was on sick leave yesterday, so got to try the live and continuous ITV4 coverage.  It was very good and included the Phil L and Paul S commentary throughout.  Also no breaks for adverts, so that's two plusses over Eurosport (I hate their commentary).

The only downside was that you couldn't put it into full screen which meant that, whilst it was perfectly watchable, reading the numbers in the corners of the screen was a little challenging, even on a 36" screen.

I thought Millar put in a very mature ride.  I wonder if he's sorted his climbing out for this years tour...  Cadel has to be the main man now though, with Valverde looking like a guy in need of Astana beans.

Excellent Cav, who needs some dull media machine anyway. I'm glad he's a character, the commentator asked some dull stupid questions while the adrenalin was still flowing and got the answer he deserves.

... as a good sprinter. I'm glad he did win; for him as much as anything.

I want to see him in the mountain; if he did well, with some improvement in TTing, then he could become rather good.

I thought he'd gone too early but he just kept it going, dropped Hushovd and then distanced Friere and Zabel..

A class act - took the race and won it convincingly.

It's comments such as these that make me wonder when they'll get around to putting digital transmission out to those of us in the wilderness of Southend whose aerials point at the Londinium transmitters.  Or even better just putting some decent programmes back on the TV so my 5 channels interest me sufficiently that I stay in one evening a week to watch the gogglebox.

I have thus far seen no reference to TDF other than on here so haven't a clue what's going on.

Well, the sport has cut its own throat since most people now believe they're all on drugs, hence little coverage.  The last two years have been total farce, with Landis winning then being disqualified and, in 2007, two successive race leaders leaving the race in disgrace.

She has a broken (fore)arm.  The rider who hit her (Passeron) didn't start today's stage, despite being expected to.  No substantive reports about why.
Haussler, who had a nasty looking crash, but rode quite well today...

Forearm in the stomach - lots of bruising etc. Not in a fit state to start.

A beautiful ride yesterday. Schumacher was so unlucky; and tripped by the guy who eventually got to wear the yellow jersey. Agritubel again at the front; they will have given a lot in this first week!

It was a good race yesterday - Agritubel have been the stars this week I think - I expect that their sponsors will be pretty happy with their investment. Evans looked in good form but Cunego seemed to struggle. And I'm not sure about Valverde - even with his team doing all that work at the front he still wasn't able to put time into the leaders.

Of course, all the main GC riders might be hanging back until they get to the real mountains. It's been a good tour so far
