Just a quick plug for a palindromic distance event on a palindromic date.
Entry page (http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/13-810/)
Last year's thread here (https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=57988.msg1192683#msg1192683).
EOLs accepted, but an email to the org in advance would be appreciated. Paypal entries are welcome up to the day before.
(It's a small target audience, but Papal entries also welcome, and 'having something on on on Easter Sunday' won't wash as an excuse, Francis)
I route-checked it with miniog yesterday and here are some of the views on offer.

Will miss it again guys -sorry! (at least I can say it's no longer local....) Good luck to one and all!
-
I'll be there, it's a brilliant route and combined with the lovely weather we had last year it's always stood out in my mind as one of the best 200's I've ridden.
-
Brilliant organisation as well. Sorry not to be there this year. I'd have thought such a good ride would be sold out ages in advance. Anyone in doubt - do give it a go!
-
Brilliant organisation as well.
Yep and Ian's picnic control by the river and castle was superb.
Tony, I seem to remember you riding to the start last year? (the day before.)
-
Those Welsh-speaking moles are the peskiest!

Yes, BoA - Chippenham - Llandovery - Pontardawe. Same on way back the next day, gentle route and lucky with the weather, but not a lot of time in hand.
Happy riding to everyone there this year. Wales is so very good!

It's almost upon us!
Anybody know what the roads are like over there this week?
Temperatures are looking relatively O.K for this weekend, up to 5c ;D
-
The roads have been fine in Swansea. The snow was mainly to the north and east, so I think Carmarthenshire will be OK. There may be a little ice inland from run-off from the fields, but it's been so dry that I doubt it.
-
The roads in Carmarthenshire are good. Have been out a lot lately and only seen one bit of runoff thats frozen and that was on top of the Black Mtn last sunday, see you there Bairdy

Can't wait, I got off to a good start this month but not managed much over the last couple of weeks.
I'm bringing a mate who hasn't ridden a 200 before but I've got a feeling she's going to be fast(er than me!)
See you there.

20 entries for this event but only 12 started ???
A real pity, it was a beautiful day all day and this route has to be one of the prettiest and traffic free.
It's so quiet and peaceful, I couldn't help thinking where is everybody?
I took photo's today (I usually don't bother) but they don't do the ride justice, Nuncio's are much nicer.
I'm sure we had a headwind all day though, it took me almost an hour longer this year and I was struggling
for the last 40km. I don't think I ate or drank enough to fuel my battle into the wind
The southbound stretch from Carmarthen on the A484 sapped me.
Having said that it was a lovely day, the last day of March and not at all Miserable!
My mate got round just fine, her first 200.
Well worth the effort to get over there, stick it in your diary for next year. It's superb.

and how did your friend do??

Glad it went well, shame about low numbers. It was my first 200 and the next year I rode round with Feret on his first 200. Still my favourite 200 event , its the perfect mix of fast bits and scenic bits, you can take your time enjoy the scenery and still have time up your sleeve.
couldnt do it this year due to working over the holiday, finished at 0800 this morning now got a bit of time off .

Some pics supplied by Christine Vogelsang whose husband Peter rode the event:

Good to see some of the old crowd, especially Dai and Peter! Thanks for sharing the photos Ian, Yan.
-
That's me in the high viz pixie boots, didn't realise they were so bright. You won't loose me in a crowd anyway lol
-
Another view of the event, also from Germany. http://www.rv-altona.de/the-carmarthenshire-snapper/
-
Those pictures should attract a good entry for next year, if Ian is putting it on again. Superb event. The scenery is even more splendid and varied than the pictures show.
Thanks Nuncio for posting.
-
Fame at last!
I remember the German couple, nice folk.
Great ride, hope to be there again next season.
-
There was a time when you were guaranteed to get your photo in Arrivee if you did this ride! Should some of the entry fee for next years ride to go towards hiring a Snapper? ;D

I have no plans to stage the event next year. If anybody wants to take it over I will be happy to assist.
