It's sad news. I think that he often wrote about the relationship between a father and his son, in a really interesting way. I bought a book of his short stories for my Dad's birthday once but he never picked up on it.

There was a brief article about him on Front Row (Radio 4) last night. Last year they reviewed his book, which I think was a follow-up to the Witches of Eastwick.
