My lettuce seem to have green fly and small white things on them

Any idea what the white things are?

As I doubt they are good how would you recomend I get rid of them?

Whitefly? GardenForum Horticulture: Pest Patrol: Whitefly has some pics of them. They fly up in little fluffy swarms when you disturb them. We had brassica-loving ones, but we ended up giving up on brassicas, rather than managing to get rid of them. (Not just because of them, but the pest-appeal was a factor.) Calendula is supposed to repel them, I think. Ladybirds and lacewings should eat them, too.

Oh, and calendula should repel your greenfly too!

I think you should give them a stern talking-to (I'm going to try this later, as nothing has worked with my sad excuses for Cos lettuce)

If you're sowing successive rows of lettuce through the season, sow each as far away as possible from the preceding one. This helps to prevent pests getting settled.

Drenching the lettuce in soapy water seems to be a technique I was recommended as being the most efficient, and it has the advantage of not involving nasty chemicals.

So I have white fly, I have swarms on my shed.  Wonder where they came from.

Oh well thank you and I'll try the soapy water and see what happens.
