Originally, the carvers could & did put whatever they wanted in the more obscure corners (hence the lewd carvings sometimes uncovered), & nobody was bothered about who or what they used for models, so Klingons et al are perfectly in line with tradition. That's a story I'd like to be true.
Unless things have changed since my friend left, it is still true.

The carvers (and there aren't many) submit drawings of what they intend to produce. Then they commence work. It's pretty common for a piece to take months to complete.

I'm having a grand old Radio Day today.  A very interesting ethical debate earlier this morning, went out for a bit, and came back to a documentary about Helen Waddell, who wrote my (on some days) favourite book, Peter Abelard.

It's a book that shows why you should write about what you know.  And she really did know about this stuff.

MFWHTBAB and I went into the town centre today, as is our new habit, to have a coffee at the van in the precinct, and buy some groceries.  Only today, instead of him doing the whole trip in the wheelchair, he walked (with crutches) the first 200 yards, and a bit more as we went round Wilkinsons - way the furthest he's walked since his tendon went.

I see my hip surgeon on the 13th August.

First off I know I will need an AMRI (MRI with contrast fluid) to finally confirm the diagnosis and the response.

We had a splendid holiday up in the borders (apart from CA being Really Quite Poorly at one point).  And we had a day out in Edinburgh, where we met Kirst  :D

£488 tax rebate in this week's wages! Superb. Now just waiting for some duplicate info from DWP to pass on to HMRC for another £1k or so.... it's like an accidental savings plan....
