I had a job interview this afternoon. Very short notice. Small local language school I'd contacted a while ago & which then said it didn't need anyone suddenly asked about my availability. They need someone very soon (Friday!) for one to one lessons, & expect to have more work in a couple of weeks. Business clients, needing a certain (but not very high) level of English for work or courses.

I'll find out about the Friday work tomorrow. That will also mean a couple of hours every day next week. Not a lot, but every little helps. If I get it, & do well enough for them to give me more work, it's a foot in the door. One to one is exactly what I want, at least for now, as it's what I'm best at. I am, to be frank, crap in front of a class, but give me one or a few who I can deal with as people, rather than a class, & I get on fine.

Looks promising. My age is seen as an advantage (some grey hairs get a bit more respect from the students), as is living very near to the school. My inexperience is only seen as a minor drawback for the work they have now, but reduces what I can expect to be paid (no surprise).

I just managed to bring up the RAID array on our main server, without loosing the 2TBytes of data on it.

Recovering all that data from backups etc would have been a mite irritating (and slow).
Actually, it is rocket science.

Thanks! It's such a huge relief. I've been so incredibly busy every waking moment for the last I-don't-know-how-long that I've spent the day feeling spaced out and not knowing what to do with myself...  :-\

No need.  They're already highly skilled at finding me.

I did manage to stay under the radar last year, but then again the car was only just capable of exceeding the speed limit.

We are going to look at a house tomorrow.  Wel, it's actually a three bedroom bungalow with a HUUUUUUUGE garden, complete with pond and several sheds.  I am already planning possible raised beds and planting schemes.

The house has just been refurbished with a brand new kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom has a jacuzzi bath and steam shower

It's in Great Shelford, a desirable village on the outskirts of the city

And it's within budget at £325,000...

My list of things to do at work is shorter now than at the start of the week (by one). First time in a while that's happened.

'Fraid not - but I'll give up the instant access to a LBS for a proper garden.  The garden will be big enough for a few chooks
