The Boy is at home with me.

Just like old times, if only for a few days  :)

Turns out a payroll error last month meant I paid far too much income tax. 650 refund tomorrow.

 :o

'Kin ell, bet that was a shock!

Having had similar, they are a shock, but nice when you get it back.

On a similar topic, I got paid for the week before last, yesterday, and I got £50 more than I had invoiced for (tax rebate) :)

After some wrestling, a little bad language, a bit of a sweat, an unusually long time chasing an end around a rim, some cable tie based bondage and considerable delayed satisfaction I am now relaxing with tender palms and a glass of port.

... my marathon winters have arrived and been fitted.

Rear wheel (XM317) was much harder to get on than the cheap original front wheel.
I have squirted WD40 at an embarrassingly rusty chain and will take it out to play tomorrow.

Isn't it lovely now that the days are getting longer and the nights shorter?

Clarion has put the ice spikers on my winter bike :D. They might finish me off tomorrow, but at least we won't have anymore snow now

Well, I had no idea.  I expected less pay than normal this month (and zero last month).  It's far too complex for me to understand, my payslips are very complicated and confusing.  So it was quite nice to find out I had been underpaid by that much.

I could post elements of this in the bad news thread but overall it's good news.

I've been waiting for a parcel.   RM Track and Trace seems to thinks they tried to deliver it today.  Strange, I was in.   Anyway, there was no card.

I've just found the card wedged between the letterbox flap and the draught excluder.   I can collect after 4.   ;D

Wahey! Gone a whole day at "work" without receiving/sending a single email or phone call. Managed to get me shopping finished and watch Indian Hill Railways. Just turned on my out-of-office message. Back on 4th Jan!!!

No wonder we're all for the chop next March really.

I won a free lunch this morning!

One of my colleagues was sure we'd receive no helpdesk calls today (bless, he's only been here a few months).  I knew better.  Roughly an hour later the first call came in.   ;D

Next Wednesday we shall be visiting the Flying Burrito:thumbsup:

With contributions from others, I have bought myself a very nice Chistmas present.

A weather station!

This morning Dez climbed a ladder and erected an aerial pole so that the anemometer is whizzing round and round. At the moment it's not ideally placed but I'm not sure that I want to spend money getting an aerial erecting man to come and give me the benefit of one of his erections when we're not intending to stay in this house for all that long.

As I type, Dez is configuring a sheeva plug to take data from the weather station so that (eventually) weather from Prittlewell will be broadcast around the world for the benefit of anyone who really wants to know.
