BWC London

Anyone went yesterday?
I saw some footage on the web.. it did look more like a show than a race. The course was too short and too narrow, very different from the days.
On balance, happy that I didn’t spend a fortune…

I looked at the website, saw the route and decided not to bother - and it's only a few hundred yards down the road from me.  Looked more like a sponsorship extravaganza than a cycling event.

I used to work as a scenery painter in the old goods yard when it was basically derelict. Bloody cold in the winter as it was effectively open to the elements and therefore impractical to heat.

It could have done with some live commentrary as it was quickly impossible to tell the leaders from the stragglers.

The women only got one fucking lap (900m) and the winner was inevitably the first unfolder. They still got a prize custom titanium Brompton, so redressing the pay gap I suppose.

That was always my feeling. In a short crit the first unfolder has a massive advantage. I think the Le Mans thing is cool, but they forget the bit that says 24 Hours... It doesn't work over 2-3 minutes
