Only about 22 lbs to be easily found today (about 1/3 as many as last year) but they were just perfect: plump & so ripe I could eat them like the little plums they are.
Mrs MV has washed & sorted them & tomorrow is jam time. And maybe some more gin, but I've got an eye on the sloes for that...

Mine are a week or two off, bit further north I guess. The couple I did try were very tasty, more so than the plums.
Never grown them before and am thinking of vodka/gin for christmas presents as there's not a lot of room in the freezer (I think I ought to get another one for next year!)

They are much earlier than last year, a good month as you say. We had a very warm & early spring here, which may explain it.
The sloes look like they usually do in late October, too.
