Is Felstead Rd through Cock Green still closed at the bridge? If yes is it passable by bike/foot?

Ironically not out tonight given relative proximity to my house.

Since returning from French France I have been desperate to have a two wheeled adventure before returning to gainful employment which is now likely to be the 2nd December.  I have hatched a variety of plans, the most notable being Tan Hill, all of which  have been frustrated by REAL LIFE TM.  I am determined my latest, more modest plan, will actually happen and you're more than welcome to join me for some or all of the endeavor.  That said I'm happy to go it alone...

Dates: Wednesday 27th to Thursday 28th November
Route: CLICKY
Start time: 1100 hrs (ish) at Spa Road roundabout
Notable features: meander about, meet the MEMWNS crew at King's Head (Tollesbury), ride off into the night, bivvy somewhere, get the train home from Harwich on Thursday

Fred has had some mods and is very excited by the prospect of hitting the road for an adventure once again.

Me and Fred are getting excited about this^^^

So far jibers has expressed an interest an the daytime segment up until closing time and Tomsk has expressed an interest in the whole thing!  There’s still room for lots more!

 Though I will be giving the bridleway at 27.4km a swerve and heading on and around past the croc :)

I'm sorry, but I've just got this vision in my head of you towing the 'van with Fred. I can't get rid of it, but it's making me smile. :)

A good call, last time I attempted that, it had been cut up by scramblers, mud 50cm deep, I think I made 20 metres before being stuck in a quagmire. :(

Dagnets Lane may be ok, there's some solid gravel/hardcore under the skogg/mud/puddles, the Bardfield Saling byway was bad last time I attempted it, on off-road tyres - I dread to think what it's like now after all the rain ... on a road bike, no!

There's a missed opportunity for a rideable ford in the vicinity of the latter

We don’t have to slavishly follow my suggested route if local knowledge provides betterer options.

In that case, how about this as a variation between Finchingfield and Bures?

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31520517

It only adds on a handful of miles and is a much better route and nothing to do with the fact that it takes in a number squares that I'm missing  :P
