They say small is beautiful and our small group of five had a ride in beautiful weather and in beautiful scenery. Thanks to RdaviesB and Helen, Meddyg and GillP for a great social ride. The hills didn't seem too hard and the cafe and pub stops were a social and gastronomic delight. In other words, a typical YACF ride. Thanks guys.

It certainly was a great day. GillP conquered all the hills, even the ones she thought she couldn't get over on her Bianchi, my other half completed her first ride over 6 miles for a year (and we got the tandem over all the hills as well  :D), MeddyG acted as photographer extraordinaire (hopefully they'll be posted when he gets back to a PC), and Toekneep was his usual exemplary self as ride leader and witty raconteur.  To cap it all it didn't rain! But there again it hardly ever rains in Lancashire nowadays......

I am too tired to load the pictures.  ;)

I joked last week about our next achievement being a back to back 100km not realising that I would actually be doing it this weekend.  ::-) I've just stupidly gone out on a club run with three younger riders and I nearly died. If I can move tomorrow I may try to put some pics up.

Good grief man! If you've had the same weather joys to deal with as I have today then have you will have had "fun".

I'm off for a piece of the mythical CAKE.

We were really lucky. Well if you can call horrible head winds lucky. What I mean is we didn't have any rain. If you commuted today then you have nothing but admiration from me.

There are worse ways to get to Yorkshire from Preston ! The sun was shining however; I had to take off my YACF sweater in Morrison’s car park there. I was the only one not equipped with pork based snacks (I wasn’t briefed about this YACF snack code – I thought it was cake).

‘Mum, I’m going to meet some people I’ve met on the net in a supermarket car park in Preston, tomorrow…’ ‘Are you sure that’s safe, dear?’ –‘I’ll let you know at the end of the day…..’

I thought we were stopping at ‘The Chip Inn’ on the way back. Turned out to be Chipping –which is another ‘honey pot’ village with Tea  and souvenir shops…

You might have to wait a little longer, they are coming to me first and then from me to here via Picassa. I reckon they'll be up before Christmas.  ;D

It's not Christmas yet; but the warmth of that day is fading in my memory....

evidently the tandemists

this is rather nice; tandemists lead Tony and Jill up the brew
steep downhill, cattle grid on the bend and grunty hill

and that's Jill modelling Freckleton chaingang's new shirt

I don't think there's a photo fo Tony - how did that happen?
There's always next year
moi, meddyg, scene of boyhood trips with dad, the primus and sausages

Thanks Meddyg, my apologies, I completely forgot about putting up the photos. It was nice to be reminded of a great cycling day. Especially as there is frost on the cars here this morning.
