Title: Courier pickup of furniture?
Post by: andyoxon on 11 March, 2024, 12:27:13 pm
Need to get three items of large furniture, disassembled dining table etc, from North Yorks to oxfordshire.  DIY: train up, van hire, fuel etc may be too much (~£300) to be cost effective.  Any ideas on couriers who would pickup & deliver, & what approx cost?  Any experiences on this?

My experience is a 24hr two way (return) rental of a van (if milage is unlimited viz Enterprise etc) is cheaper than train and one way hire premium. The deisel for the 200 mile outward leg would be about £40 @ 35 mpg which a "large" van should achieve. £70 van hire + £40 up + £40 return makes it ca £150 for the trip.

I didn't get any replies when I asked a similar question here last month, but the bloke at the place I bought my wardrobe off said they've had good experiences with proovia.delivery.

Bit late, but.  As you're in Oxon, check out Eurodrive in Didcot / Oxford.  Used them quite a bit for both van and car hire, competitive prices.  At least they were going back to 22 and earlier...
