There is no way that using animals to gain medals should be sanctioned.

Olympic Walking race.

Is it compulsory to urgently need a shit when racing?

Ties don't seem to be that rare. I'm sure they have plenty of spares and protocols:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ties_for_medals_at_the_Olympics

(the odd "vacant" squares on that page all seem to be doping-related)

IIRC it's a particular problem in swimming because the the pools aren't constructed accurately enough to allow tiny time gaps to be considered significant.

They aren't proper gold anyway.  I heard they are made from recycled mobile phones tarted up.  At least that'd cut the insurance premium.

They are made of gold reclaimed from recycled electronics. It's still gold. But the core is actually silver, as the gold would be too heavy.

The gold is still proper gold, it's just been reclaimed from the trash.

Olympic Gold: Are the medals made of real gold and how are they made?

It's good because gold mining is environmentally devastating.

I watched a bit of this last night. They "walk" much faster than I can run. ???

There have been calls for Jason Kenny to be knighted after he became Great Britain's most decorated Olympian.
Maybe they should stop handing out Knighthoods to sportspeople?

If they gave Jason a knighthood for being the most decorated British Olympian and Laura a dame hood for being the most decorated female British Olympian and did so at the same time would it be the first case of a married couple getting such gongs at the same time?

There should be a higher rank called 'Knighthood Declined' or KD.  I always think more highly of people who turn them down.

I’m just watching the Paralympic triathlon, and to say I feel ashamed at my inability to get out and run is something of an understatement. They’ve just done the changeover from the swim to the cycle and the number of the competitors who are strapping on prosthetics or have their bikes significant;y modified so they can interface better isn’t surprising given the context, but it shames me.

Not seen any of the paralympics.

Delighted to read that Hannah Cockroft one (again) in the 100m. Another chance for another gold this coming Sat - the 800m is her better distance.

Sad to read that Ellie Robinson is probably going to retire from competitive sport due to Perthes. Too difficult to hold a crumbling body together.
