n00b trike question
« on: 19 December, 2021, 06:33:34 pm »
I haz a Catrike with qr sqewers for the front wheels (which are thru axle disks I think).  Will these be standard front wheel axle size?  I'm thinking of swapping the qr with allen key or pitlock (if I have a spare) instead.

No, they're not thru-axles. And they are not normal QRs holding the wheels on either. Take one off to check but I think they have a hub cap on the end, and the length is presumably less than 100mm. TBH, I'm struggling to remember now.

This -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRn4zJMFYNU&ab_channel=CatrikeTrikes is what they look like on the inside and how they work.
So in theory yes.
But there's nothing to hold the cap nut still while you tighten up the inside nut.
You could replace the cap nut with a washer and nut but that would stick out.
The front axle from an ICE trike has a couple of flats on it to hold it still while you tighten up the inside nut.
They would work if all diameters and lengths are the same between trikes.

Luck .........  ;D
