I watched the highlights on S4C.   It's in welsh but that's good practice for me.

The weather looks grim for tomorrow. Today there's snow forecast on Etna, tomorrow a high of 1C.

The picture on Quest is utter crap.  ISTR it was the same last year.  Is Italian TV always as fuzzy as Chanel 9 on The Fast Show?  Also, the shitverts cut off Sean Kelly mid-sentence.  This is not necessarily bad.

Between Sean and Orla, that show mangles more vowels than a box set of Father Ted.

Not directly related to the race, but we are catching up on the Giro on GCN+ as MrsH was away last week and likes to watch it.
There's been a change on the GCN+ app on FireTV and our telly in the last week or so where it doesn't reliably do the "continue watching" thing and remember where you are. Not a problem, as I'd got in the habit last year of noting down where we're up to anyway (stage, km, elapsed time) so I can resume regardless as it did occasionally fail before.

Don't worry - no spoilers! So yesterday, watching Stage 5, stopped and took the dog out for a walk. Restarted the app, selected the race, fast forward to roughly where we were and left it running in the background as we did other things. Saw the crash into the flag marshal in the middle of the road at about 3.5km, rewound to try to see what happened, back and forward a couple of times, then managed to fumble the remote buttons and exit the app. Restarted the app, back to the race, fast forward to 4km, watch for the next km, no crash. WTF? Had we been watching the wrong day? Jumped to Stage 6, fast forward, no crash. Hmm. Then figured out we'd just watched most of the 2021 Stage 5 rather than 2022, and hadn't paid enough attention to realise the teams and kit were wrong  :-[

Bit annoyed that the press has to insist on the fact that he is the first black rider to win this and that... he is a fine sprinter and I am sure he would like to be remembered for that.

I have to say that so far, this year the course planners have done a really good job with every day being a different type of course.

They should de-cork the magnum before it gets to the podium. It’ll still be fizzy enough when shaken

The old podium booze spray procedure will be changed if the orgs have any sense.  There have been a couple of near (cork) misses recently too.

Thinking ahead, assuming his eye is okay, I suspect his forced withdrawal from the Giro is also his ticket to the TdF.  I'll look forward to seeing him on the startline!
