ACME Club Run Poll

First step to see if this idea has enough support and what day/time would best suit. Start location to be decided, but Witham 'spoons seems the obvious choice to me.

Unhelpfully, I have ticked all boxes. Does the ride have to start at the same time each week?

Actually if every there's no overall preference I can use my executive powers as an Elder of ACME.  :D

I think I'd prefer a regular time with a central start point, but varying the time and spreading across the county is certainly an option. I alway like to keep things simple. When riding with the Ayrshire CTC in the early '90s, the start venues ranged up and down that large and long county (with two good train lines, coastal and inland, north-south), sometimes timings adjusted to suit, including the ferry over to Arran.

Sorry, got a bit carried away  ;D

Thanks for this Tomsk

A 'spoons launch is my preference.

Is that a Spoons launch or Spoons lunch?

Or a lunch launch?

Spoons is convenient for the Launch, maybe the Spiritual Home for Lunch?

Saturdays suit me as J is at school.  It will depend how my running goes this Winter as to how often I am about.

This could be just what I have been looking for, as I don't really want to ride to Chelmsford for the Chelmer Club runs. I am happy to be on the ride leader coercion list, although I would prefer a Sunday. Most audax events are Saturdays.

I’m a Chelmer member but have never been on a club ride.  Probably makes me a bad person.

I have raced for the club and marshalled at events.

I voted (Saturdays), although it's unlikely I'll be able to get along very often - a Witham start and a 40 mile club run actually makes a pretty neat 200k for me, with the added bonus of some socialising as well. I pretty much have a pass to do one long ride a month, so would be good to tie in with this if practical

Looks like Saturday morning is the best fit for most of us.

OD has pointed out other options, including an early-birds ride, back to the 'spoons for breakfast and maybe catch the main group before they leave. Extending or truncating according to need is of course always possible, up to and including turning it into a DIY x00km. If you must! Bernster - work out your DIY route and we'll just follow you for the relevant 65km.

Saturday mornings always difficult as Toby has sport then - Sunday mornings would be better for me. Logistics may be tricky to Witham as quite a long round trip for me (but I recognise I'm far from central!)

Reading your last message Tomsk, the penny has dropped that it's actually not that practical to make it the mid part of an Audax, as I'd need to have a GPX in advance showing where we were going (with no deviation on the day). Not sure you'd necessarily want me planning the route and leading, given my limited knowledge of cafes/routes around Witham, but I'm happy to do so if there's interest.
