"Blackpool": BBC 2004
« on: 27 April, 2012, 10:03:55 pm »
One of my birthday presents from Mrs eck was the DVD of Blackpool, with David Morrissey (one of my favourote actors) and David Tennant. It's brilliant: watch http://www.youtube.com/v/cqVOu7f1nzo&rel=1 without smiling.... bet you can't. :)
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

That was a great series. More than a hint of Dennis Potter about it. Morrissey and Tennant both superb. Around the same time, there was also Funland - also set in Blackpool but somewhat darker/stranger (written by some of the League of Gentlemen).

Steve Pemberton is in that clip, he was in the League of Gentlemen, and has appeared in Doctor Who and more recently 'Benidorm', which is sort of about Blackpool, but with more reliable weather. Funland was written by Jeremy Dyson, the background member of the League of Gentlemen.

So he is. And of course Mark Gatiss was in Funland and has both appeared in and written for Doctor Who. David Morrissey was in an episode of Doctor Who as well, wasn't he?

Small world.
