Ubuntu Clipboard

Probably a silly question, but I can't find the clipboard - assuming that it's designed to be found. I do a lot of copy and pasting using the mouse. Right-click menu normally brings up cut / copy / paste as well as a Search Google Option, or Search Wikipedia if I've got that selected as search. Sometimes, seemingly at random, the Search Google option takes me to a Mozilla Google start page instead of straight into Google results. In addition, the right click won't copy highlighted text, but will continue to paste whatever previous thing I had there. Keyboard shortcuts make no difference.

Is there a way of clearing the clipboard, or setting how many items I can have in it before it's full? Using Ubuntu 9.04 and Firefox 3.5. Same problem was happening on the previous version of Firefox as well.
