I will try the Fairy Liquid route when I need to and post before and after pics to ensure Frenchie, Fuzzy, Fatbloke, Bazil, Jaded, Pumpe and others are reminded how lovely my bike is  ;D

When my bike was first built we did have some dark red tape ... but it had dried out. So it got lime green tape... when it wore off I bought some good Cinelli stuff ... in the same colour!

WD40 works a treat, but if you use too much, the tape gets a little slippery.

One of the most unpleasant words in the English language is 'tasteful'. It implies everything that is bland and conformist.

He is Australian, you see.

Why isn't there any green in it?
It is simpler than it looks.

Hello, my tourer as it was last year:

I thought it looked quite good, although all my mates disagreed ::-). This year it's sporting a Brooks saddle and brown bar tape (as well as STI's and caliper brakes). I think I might go back to yellow!

Grub, another "Yes" I'm afaid.

However my bar tape is pink and black leatherette with white stitching (it looked red in the shop) so what do I know?

What I DO know is that I'm going to replace it with black bar tape next year.  The main problem being that it started to look dirty.  Yellow will be the same eventually.  Oily Yellow bar tape is NOT cool.

Toothbrush & detergent will clean it up nicely and wear it out quicker, the only stains which seemed to persist (I too went through a bright bar tape phase) are those marks left from filthy hands post puncture repair! Anyone remember the vinyl flourescent yellow / pink bar tape? Rather bright to look at first thing in the morning.....
