Bear Grylls winds me up of course, and all other climbers or mountaineers, for his hyperbole. As far as I can tell, the climbs he does, and the situations he puts himself in, are highly non-trivial to deal with, and would be very dangerous indeed -- nay likely fatal -- for the totally inexperienced. Nonetheless, they represent utterly manageable risks to the experienced mountaineer and outdoorsman, with none of the kind of acute danger that the program presents.
One slip and he's dead? Whatever.
