Old Roads 300 (Exeter Wheelers CC)
« on: 15 April, 2024, 11:09:16 pm »
I'm back organising the Old Roads.  The start is 2am on the 11th May which will give riders a splendid sunrise over Devon hills.  Most should finish in daylight - 10pm is the cut-off.  It's a rural route with controls in small market towns, taking in some of the less-travelled parts of Devon and West Somerset.

This one interests me, if a rider were to arrive in Honiton on the last train (23:26), what would they do while waiting for the start?

Go to the 24hr garage, get a bag of charcoal and some burgers and have a BBQ.

Honiton is not well-known for its nightlife, but the BP/M&S garage at the bottom of the town is open 24hrs.

Stay on the train to Exeter Central (plenty open after midnight and lycra would surely help you fit in).
Or carry on to St David's and snooze in the warm waiting room there.
And then ride over to Honiton on the empty old A30.
