It all depends on the sate of my knees.

If the routes are the same as last year then this Essex DA, SEG, member has the Tracklog routes here, CLICKY. Just scroll down to the date and select your distance. He used to do GPX as well but they don't seem to have a link now!

I'd phone the organiser first, his number is listed on the Audax calendar entry. There's a 100 person entry limit for the 200km ride which usually means the cafes involved can't cope with huge numbers.

Entries on-the-line can be a big headache for organisers.

Don't forget to take exact change for entry (including the £2 temporary membership fee), C5 SAE and entry form. I've seen people turned away from entering on the line because they didn't have an entry form.

I'll email the guy. He's fairly local, so I could do what I did last time which was to go round the guy's house and give him the relevant paper work in person a few days before!

If I was turned away on the day, what's stopping me just tagging along? As long as I didn't stop at the cafe controls, take any food or drink laid on and just found a pub en route or whatever I'm not breaking any rules? I can ride where I like. Free country, innit!?

Audax Rule 5.9 is an interesting one. I doubt it would ever be enforced though.

Yeah, it would be out of order to turn up and not even bother to enter if you could. It would also be out of order to use any facilities/eat food/drink drink laid on by the organisers. Also to stop at cafe controls as the event has a limit to stop them being swamped.

I want to enter and hopefully I'll be able to on the day....

Having ridden it last year, and still not having got around to entering this year's, I'm also watching the Entry on Line discussion.


But I won't be stopping at the cafe's this year...   Especially the transport cafe halfway round.

Foul mouthed racist bigots Salt of the Earth truckers in there last time I visited. I was late on in a DIY 300, and it was ipssing with rain. They thought I was barking. I could only agree...

Can't remember the place name.

All food on the menu (of the bacon roll etc variety) was off.  The chef, in his grimy whites, was consenting to making microwaved bacon rolls in the end though.

I went back a fortnight later as a DIY repeat of the route (not claiming any DIY points, just re-riding the route for fun).  Again, only seemed to be serving full Sunday lunches, not snacks.   He said he could do a chicken breast in a baguette though (well, I think that's what he grumpily muttered).

I first saw the bread scrunched up in his dirty hand as he brought it from the back room through the cafe to the open plan kitchen area.  When it hit my plate the bread was warm and wet (I think it'd been microwaved) and the chicken was...  well a funny colour and crunchy.  I think it'd been cooked on the same hotplate that everything else had been cooked on that day.

Is it my imagination, or is the 150 a bit convoluted.  I spent ages last night trying to put it into my Garmin.  Not sure I have got it right even now.
