Yes! For the first time in a while. We decorated the tandem and rode the mile to Farm School, to find everything shut. Investigation on the internet found a notice that it was cancelled, which had been posted whilst I had been decorating the tandem. So we rode back again. We only did a little over 2 miles, but it was nice and I rode up a hill that I walked last time we did it.  :)

Probably last outside ride of the year for me yesterday, and boy was it warm.

A nice gentle 50km pootle that got me to a record year for myself by about 500km. I may even have gone further by bike than in my car this year.  Hope to add a few more audax next year and go even further.

Merry Christmas all.

A soggy local 100k loop for me.

I'm also on my yearly record, and I may yet do some rides after Christmas before heading off to the Alps.

Round the lanes to Knutsford and Lach Dennis, mucky and windy.  70km.

Decided I may as well attempt the Festive 500 again, so tried to find a reasonably flat route (as I'm staying at the parents' for Christmas, and had the good sense to bring my heaviest bike for some reason - probably the disc brakes, which admittedly were useful). I was expecting the killer headwind, but it wasn't supposed to rain. It did, and my boots are now totally sodden. An emergency stop to attempt to "dry" my gloves with a hand drier at a handy public toilet in Cerrigydrudion got me back, with just short of 80 miles done. Probably won't get out tomorrow, and won't manage much the day after either, so it was good to tick off the first quarter of the mileage.

Managed 20 miles this morning and legs felt heavy, was out yesterday on a 35 mile club run which brings total for the week to 99.5 miles.

Yesterday, a short flattie for benefit of El Prez, who hasn't been out for over a month. The bugger turned up on his MTB so it was a slow short flattie too.

Dogs came out to say hello when I got back.  When I took my left glove in my teeth to pull it off I found that one of them had slobbered on it.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

in the moment of stupidity i decided that it would be "cool" to ride a festive500 in one go.  so yesterday i went out and did a route assembled from the dean and severn across audaxes with a few alterations. i forgot what a long way a 500km is on a bike!.. all went smooth though and i finished the ride in 23h45 with one hour stopped.

Woah, that's impressive! :o

I'm breaking my Festive 500 into somewhat smaller chunks, so just 50k this morning before the festivities begin.

I'm down in Derbyshire at my sister's for Christmas, so went out for a quick hour or so this morning. There are hills in Derbyshire! Well, more hills than York - ie. *some* hills!! 18km with 430m climbing! :-D

Quite a nifty ride Zigzag! I assume you didn't stick it on Strava? Cos I looked at the Rapha500 listing yesterday and just 4 riders had done 500k, all in Malaysia/Oz etc.

I've done roughly 110k + 11k. Can FB-refuseniks see this piccie of my Christmas dawn ride?

That was 0745 - aren't cameras clever, it was actually really dark! I had to be home by 0800, as we were helping at Christmas Parkrun  O:-)

It seemed like a public service - nay, a duty - to test it for everyone.

And it's not a "Link road" - it's the Cooling Towers Viewing Boulevarde.

Another 80k today, down to the beach in Rhyl and back. Sadly I didn't find any ice cream, but I had plenty of Christmas cake with me instead! Not so much wind today, which was good - but it's due to return tomorrow.

As the mighty Penkridge FC didn't have a game today, I decided to cycle the 5km to our local "big" club Stafford Rangers for their match against Strourbridge...... hardly worth reporting really apart from the reaction I got from the person controlling the car park who did not understand why a 5km ride actually took me just over 20km....... I guess he isn't a cyclist.....

For the record, Stafford won 1-0 in front of 944 people...that's more than will see Penkridge over a couple of seasons!

Returning home after the match did take only 5km but by then it was dark and what looked like snow was falling.....

A loop from home out to the Tilbury Forts to keep my "half RRTY" going which involved two ferries (Gravesend and Woolwich), lunch at Thameside Nature Reserve, and full winter kit including double socks and a cap. I was a bit apprehensive having seen the frosty forecast but it was a lovely clear day and I enjoyed smashing through the frozen puddles on the offroad bits :)

A quick 40k in a strong wind to finish the year and prepare my metabolism for the onslaught of confit de canard and chocolate mousse cake.
