Nice piece of kit - probably buy it at half a grand - a bargain if one wanted one!

There's also a Newton style tadpole upright, but I don't think it will be most YACF'ers cup of tea...

Au contraire, there is a Forummer who has a Newton trike in the family, which provided great fun in Windsor...

That particular one on ebay looks a bit industrial, mind. :-\
Getting there...

It wasn't the concept of the Newton trike that I thought might be the problem, rather the construction of the trike on sale... looks like a bit of industrial ironwork bolted onto a bit of a BSO... but it might be just the thing for someone.

It's got lots of brakes hasn't it? I wonder how they're all actuated - having one of those discs gripping a bit harder than the other would be "interesting"

looks like the front V off the RH lever, the 2 rears discs off the LH lever

I'd not spotted that...

It used to be quite common practice to have a rear drum brake retarding only the one drive wheel. I'm reliably informed* that it wasn't all that exciting.

I think all the tandem trikes built by Longstaffs now have discs on both rear wheels. They advised me to go for rear discs if I was going to use my solo for heavy touring.

That ebay trike must have cost a fortune, new.

Intriguingly there was a near-identical listing on eBay for a near-identical George Longstaff trike a month or two back.  If memory serves the previous listing had an unbelievable Buy-It-Now price of about £400 - and according to my watch list, it was bought.

Caveat emptor, I say.

On the brake front, my KR has a drum brake operating on the drive axle to both rear wheels.  After much fiddling with Travel Agents etc it provides a gentle retardation on gradients not exceeding 1%.   ::-)

My yeti is lower tech and has two rear drums but it doesn't seem to effect the handling when one locks up.  Mind you they don't do much at all even together.

Looks a bit odd but they all look alike in a ditch

If it was a bigger frame I'd be tempted.

What size frame is yours Zipper?

Believe I have seen that trike conversion on eBay before - months ago. What goes around comes around ;D

It used to be quite common practice to have a rear drum brake retarding only the one drive wheel.

There's one on the Ken Rogers I have just bought.

From memory, somewhere around 24.5 to 25.5 inches.

Looks very similar to my Ken Rogers - the headtube paint job especially and the fork crown/brake assembly is identical  ... see  Beewee - Home of Rob's Miscellanea - Home  and the  Bicycles / Machines 1 tab ...  6th picture down the list

Looks very similar to my Ken Rogers

And to the one I've just bought. You're not the only one needing to rebuild 27" wheels as 700s...
